Cooking Gal Bi Jim With Me

It still raining outside from yesterday. Luckily!! I always have some meat in the freezer. When I go out to the meat shop I will buy many kind of meat, chicken, beef and pork together because my boyfriend, he is a meat lover. Specially, Beef ribs or Gal bi (in Korean). 98% of Korean they love Gal Bi.. Believe me!!?

In Sydney if you want to have Gal Bi Jim in Korean Restaurant. you have to pay $16-$21 for a small portion. That cost 450-630 bath. Its too expensive and we couldn't guarantee about the taste, amount of dished or their hygienic level. I feel save and safe to cook and eat at home..kiki

When I'm cooking at home I never use MSG for cooking but my food still tasty. My mum, she is in Thailand with my dad and my sister. She is using MSG with every food that she cooked, even fried eggs. I think that why my mum always sick all the time But you know what? My mum she is the best chef in the world. I come over to Australia by myself I don't want to be sick because of cost lot of money. Its so expensive for People who came from oversea to effort that...  I choose to keep myself healthy eat well, sleep well and be happy :) Are you ready!!!

...How to cook Gal Bi Jim for your Korean Boyfriend...

Go to the Meat shop and looking for Beef spare ribs, I think only 1kg is enough for 2 ppl

Ingredients for my Gal Bi Jim : Beef Ribs 1kg
 Korean soy sauce 1/4cup
Blended sweet pear 2/4cup
Blended onion 2/4cup
Crushed ginger 3/4 table spoon
Crushed garlic 3/4 table spoon
Chopped shallot 1inc. 1/2cup
Raw sugar 2 table spoons
Cooked chestnut 250g
Egg and Fresh Red Chili
Mixing Soy sauce, Sweet Pear, Onion, Ginger, Garlic and Sugar are together in one bowl. And then become Gal Bi Jim cooking sauce. Leave your sauce beside until your water is boiled.

Imported Pot from Korean..My boyfriend bought for me from Korea :) you don't need one, just use normal pot with enough water for cover all your beef ribs. Boiling water with chopped shallots, after that put mix sauce and then put your cut beef ribs. Don't need to wait until the water boiled, after you put mix sauce in the boiling water, you can put beef ribs in the pot straight away. And put the lid on, leave it boiled. Boiling for 2hrs until meat are getting very soft but not too soft with medium fire.

During the time that your Gal Bi Jim is boiling in the pot. We can prepare TOPPING for your Gal Bi Jim.
1. Stirred and Fried 1egg and Slice your fried egg like thin noodle.
2. Chopped chili
3. Chopped shallot

After your Gal Bi Jim is ready, topped with topping and lets it boil a bit, lets the chili flavor slicely come out. Then serve with rice.. Of cause!! With your home made kimchi as well.

I hope tomorrow is stop raining. Me and my boyfriend have plan to go away from the city. We rent a car drive to Wollongong. I wish I can take some good pics there.

HAVE A NICE DAY....THANK YOU

Cooking Kimchi With Me

When I woke up this morning. I have been thinking Wow! what is a beautiful day today, sun shy, no cloud but WTH!!? After prepared to go out! Suddenly big raining haha..such a beautiful day :( for starting my blog... Sunday, it's my day

Because of raining that why I couldn't go out to take the photos. Actually I want to starting my blog with a beautiful sky and very nice Cafe pictures near my place where I'm living now. I live in Sydney Australia right now, I'm from Thailand BTW and I live in the area that they called Broadway..

I live here for 6yrs but I feel like my English is very bad and my Thai is not good either. I think if I had my own blog I can improve my English and can keep practicing my English Writing..that what I didn't use in my daily routine. I rent a house near the city because it's very convenient with everything, work, shopping and friends..

I have Korean boyfriend.. My mum always asking me about what the point that I come over to Australia but got Korean boyfriend. My mum was dreaming about she could have very big cute blue eyes grandchild but what can I do? I am in love with Korean boyfriend...haha before I come here I didn't know anything about Korean, not interested but after I lived here for a year. Seriously! I thought I'm in a Korean town. Korean's everywhere in Sydney.

One very important thing that I realized you should know if you want to keep long term relationship with your Korean boyfriend. You should able to cook Korean food too. Korean guys, they love their own country foods. Believe Me!!!you need to keep kimchi in the fridge all the times for him, even you don't eat it and you would be an angle if u able to make it by yourself. You wanna learn!? I'll teach you.....

...How to make Kimchi for your Korean Boyfriend...

Heading to your local fresh market and looking for beautiful Chinese cabbage. First try, just only one Chinese cabbage is enough.

And then cut it half...I got very very big one from Paddy's Market in the city for $2.50

You must have Korean sea salt for your kimchi. Different salt different taste, wanna cook korean food..use Korean salt. you can find and buy its in Korean grocery in everywhere.

Put sea salt inside each leaves of your Chinese cabbage, ensure that you also put sea salt deep inside until the bottom. Don't scare its gonna be too salty because you gonna rinse well with water after 6-7 hours.

Ingredients for my kimchi : Korean radish 200g( chopped )
      Green shallot 200g( Chopped )
     Crushed Garlic 2 table spoons
     Crushed Ginger 1 table spoon
Blended Sweet Pear 1 cup, Blended Onion 3/4 cup
Salted shrimp sauce 1.5 table spoons( from Korean grocery called Sea woo jod )
Korean Chili Power for Kimchi 1 cup ( from Korean grocery called Gote chu garu
Fish sauce 1/4 cup
Cooked sticky rice powder ( boiled half cup of powder with 2 cup of water )
Mix everything's in one big mixing bowl.

After mixing all components its going to be like this. You can tasted it, ensure that u like the taste of your kimchi mixed or ask your boyfriend tasted that he like? Now, go check your Chinese cabbage is ready for making Kimchi or not after 6-7 hrs should be ready. Rinse your Chinese cabbage with water and squeeze all the water out.

Put Kimchi Mixer is in each leaves of Chinese cabbage, make sure your whole Chinese cabbage covered with kimchi mixer.

Done!!!
Leave your finished kimchi for 1 or 2 day outside the fridge, Keep testing if getting sour then you can keep your kimchi in the fridge and able to keep for long time.

...Thank you...
